Hips Don't Lie" is a Latin-pop song performed by Colombian singer Shakira. The song is a cover of Wyclef's 2004's song "Dance Like This", which was not released as a single. Shakira assisted in writing and producing of the 2006 remake. The song was released as the second single from Shakira's second English album Oral Fixation Vol. 2 in 2006. "Hips Don't Lie" became a global success, topping the charts in many countries, and was both Shakira and Wyclef Jean's first (and to date, only) number-one single in the U.S. — Shakira had had a #6 hit with "Whenever, Wherever", but Wyclef Jean's singles with The Fugees, including "Killing Me Softly" were not released commercially, so did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100. In the UK, this was Wyclef Jean's third number one hit, after The Fugees' "Killing Me Softly" and "Ready Or Not". It was Shakira's first number one. In many other European countries, it was at least Shakira's second number one, "Whenever, Wherever" having topped the charts in most European territories bar the UK
