Jacques Thibaud, Violin. Lamoureux Orchestra. Paul Paray, Conductor. Lowenguth String Quartet. Both titles are transfered from 78 rpm originals. Mozart - Concerto for Violin and Orchestra #3 in G Major K.216. Mozart String Quartet in E Flat Major K.171. LP Vox / Polydor PLP 6420 Record is VG+ light marks ( listen) Cover VG++. This is a rare recording having a very high book value. A wonderful coupling with the Lowenguth String Quartet. Side A Mozart - Concerto for Violin and Orchestra #3 in G Major K.216. Side B Mozart String Quartet in E Flat Major K.171 Maybe, but it is the most interesting recording of this concerto ever made and remains my favorite for all time. I am not sure that what you think is the correct tempo "for Mozart" but I think Mozart would have liked it. He does take it and make it HIS..could there be any question that this is the Thibaud sound and interpretation? Who else in the world could play Mozart like this? Slightly robbing time from one note but paying back..what a sense of timing. Not pure Mozart but surely pure Thibaud and I love and appreciate his sound..when he was on he was on fire!
