In the early ’60s, Donnie McDOUGALL: formed Mother Tucker’s Yellow Duck that based its sound on the west coast psychadelic style typified by bands such as Jefferson Airplane and The Collectors. Donnie toured with "the Duck" throughout British Columbia and after a short time the band became the most popular one in Vancouver.
The group was asked to warm up for all the big acts -- including Cream, Moody Blues, The Yardbirds, Chicago, Chicago, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Vanilla Fudge, Rhinoceros, Frank Zappa, The Youngbloods and many others -- that played Vancouver. Mother Tucker's Yellow Duck released two albums; "Starting a New Day" in 1967 and "Homegrown Stuff" in 1969.
