Note
Melvin Sparks (born March 22, 1946) is an American soul jazz, hard bop and jazz blues guitarist most active in the 1960s and 1970s. He appeared on several recordings with better-known musicians like Lou Donaldson, Charles Earland, Sonny Stitt, Leon Spencer and Johnny Hammond Smith.
Sparks had the usual suspects of Prestige studio musicians to create this fine record. Backing him up were Leon Spencer, Idris Muhammad, Buddy Caldwell, Virgil Jones, Sonny Fortune, Frank Wess, Ernie Royal, George Coleman, Dave Hubbard and Hubert Laws.
An upbeat Love The Life You Live sets the perfect mood for the album. On The Up is a little more dirtier funky Jazz. All Wrapped Up is also a good number.
