British vocalist Lewis Taylor works in a modern idiom of fierce downtempo grooves, but he's got a sound that reminds us of the best Marvin Gaye recordings of the mid 70s -- all soul, all the way, with a style that's so great we can hardly believe it! Sure, there's a bit of that modern/retro approach to the production of his voice -- but the way he inflects the songs and fills them with his own emotion, you know he'd sound pretty darn great even acapella.
