It features a sample of the song "Between the Sheets" written by Ronald Isley, O'Kelly Isley, R.B. Isley, E.J. Isley, and C. Jasper, and originally performed by The Isley Brothers. Stefani originally wrote the song with Tony Kanal, without the "Between the Sheets" sample, which producer Nellee Hooper added to the song afterwards. Stefani is not the first artist to sample this song; it has been used in other songs, such as Whitney Houston's "One of These Days" and The Notorious B.I.G's "Big Poppa". The song's lyrics talk of living the high-life but not being wasteful and preferring love to money. Stefani's husband, Gavin Rossdale, speaks in French at the beginning of the song.
