Released in 1980, "Winelight" was Grover Washington, Jr.'s all-time most commercially successful album and remains one of the Quiet Storm genre's most important masterpieces. This album deservedly won two Grammy awards, is best-known for the Bill Withers-sung hit "Just The Two Of Us" and literally set the stage for what would eventually become known as Smooth Jazz. Well over 30 years after its original release..

We usually refer to these as "classics". "Winelight" is one of those. A delight from beginning to end! More than just fine musical workmanship and technique, Mr. Washington captures the soul and essence of each melody.

You've got huge talent here (in addition to the wonderful leader) . Eric Gale (guitar) . Marcus Miller (bass) . Steve Gadd (drums) . The chess board certainly has ALL the pieces in place . As beautifully as Mr. Washington plays throughout (and he does too) on several saxaphones..
