With a sound that many compare to Radiohead, Travis, Doves, The Verve and even the Pink Floyd, this UK band came back in 2002 with an album more mature and accomplished than their debut smash hit album, "Parachute," which earned them a Grammy for best alternative act, among many other accolades in 2000 and 2001. The truth is that Coldplay has an unmistakable "sound" largely due to Chris Martin's voice sitting in the middle of a pool of sounds that are able to soothe the listener while simultaneously provoking audatious thoughts about things such as fair trade ("Politik"), life ("Daylight") and the afterlife ("God Put A Smile Upon Your Face"), along with images of love ("Green Eyes") and breakups ("The Scientist"). So many powerful bits here and there make this album a true jewel.
The album opens up with a lot of strength: a guitar riff that breaks the silence of two years; and closes with a melancholic theme that is close to the point of genius, with Martin at the piano. My favorite songs... well, it's really hard to tell, since the entire album is a great piece of work, but if you point a gun at me and make me choose, I'd pick "The Scientist," the heavenly sounds from "Clocks" and the title track. These guys have only just "begun" -if Chris Martin is not another rock star-to-go-astray, we will have a lot more great music to expect from these guys in the years to come.
Coldplay - Politik

Coldplay is not pop...only rock songs can sound like this, the real music never dies!! legendary and awesome song
Coldplay - Scientist
impossibly more beautiful every single time. There is nothing I can say that will express how this makes me feel.
