Agents of Fortune is startingly excellent album -- startling because one does not expect Blue Oyster Cult to sound like this: loud but calm, manic but confident, melodic but rocking. Every song on the first side is commercially accessible without compromising the band's malevolent stance.
Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper
Buck actually wrote the lyrics to "The Reaper" during a time when he thought he was dying, and the lyrics were Buck's way of saying that we shouldn't waste our time worrying about dying because it is inevitable.
Blue Oyster Cult - This ain't the Summer of Love - live
This music and it's kin were were spot on for the times. Still kick-ass to this day
Blue Oyster Cult - The Revenge Of Vera Gemini
I love Patti Smith
How freaking amazing is this song?
Yeah.. back in the day.. When Patti married Fred sonic Smith (MC5)... it was like the Royalty of the Protest, pre punk.. punk movement united!! but BOC.. really went a different direction after Patti moved to Michigan...
think we all know how deep the vocal talent ran in this band. What other band can we name where not only do they have a lead vocalist like Eric, but the lead guitarist sings many leads, drummer sings many leads, bass sings many leads AND has a lead guitarist like Buck Dharma..
.Yes, we all wonder why they are not in the R&R Hall of fame
