In 1964 they did what no other British group had done they burst onto the American scene with “I Want to Hold Your Hand” in the #1 spot on the American charts. They arrived to a gigantic gathering of screaming and crying teenagers just trying to get a glimpse of this group they had fallen in love with. They held a press conference and charmed the American press with their wit and the way they carried themselves, although they were a little confused about the hair. They later performed on the Ed Sullivan Show to the largest viewing audience in television history. They had done what no other foreign group had done, become stars in America. After some vacation time in Florida and a few other appearances, they returned to Britain larger stars than ever imagined. CAPITOL RECORDS issued the double vinyl set on RAINBOW label just after The Beatles stormed America in 1964!
The Beatles' Story is a documentary album featuring interviews, press conferences, and songs by the Beatles, released by Capitol in 1964, a time when demand for Beatles product was insatiable. Highlights include The Beatles story from rise to fame, interviews with the mop tops and stereo excerpts of their 1964 Hollywood Bowl concert which remained unreleased for many years....the album was almost issued as an audio-book release in 1996 when the project was scrapped.
