This album was re-released to coincide with the performance of Arthur Verocai & The Kindred Spirits Ensemble on October 16th 2011 at Paradiso, Amsterdam, Netherlands.






This super rare recording of producer/arranger/guitarist Verocai's 1972 self-titled album will appeal to fans of the folksy soul and lo-fi electronic experimentations of American artists like Shuggie Otis or the funky orchestration of producer Charles Stepney (Rotary Connection, EWF) as well as the Brazilian artists Tim Maia and Jorge Ben.

Verocai was an arranger for Marcos Valle, Gal Costa, & did Brazilian tv scores & jingle writing on the side.

His only record under his own name (until beats dudes resurrected his career in the early 00s). It has sundappled melodies a la Milton Nascimento, full on ensemble jazz, and gigantic string & brass arrangements that help the record change stylistic subgenres from tune to tune. In fact, Verocai's ability to frame a small moment with a wide & complex arrangement without getting topheavy reminds me of Curtis Mayfield.


This unique recording has funk flavorings, a touch of folk, jazz style soloing, 20 piece string arrangements, the blending of electronics and keyboards with organic sounds, and superb soundtrack style music.

it really deserves wider recognition, and shines with a depth that makes it an instant classic
